What is type of medication?

ORLISTAT is a prescription medication for the treatment of obesity-related fluid retention (edema) in adults and children for whom it is not effective. It works by blocking certain hormones (and chemicals) in the body and reducing fluid levels in the body by approximately 50%.

For ORLISTAT medications, the recommended starting dose is 10 mg once daily in the morning. The dose may be increased to 20 mg once daily in children, below the dose recommended by the FDA, based on controlled clinical trials.

For children (ages 18 years and older), the recommended starting dose is 5 to 10 mg once daily in the morning. However, the maximum recommended dosing frequency is once per day, and most people do not need to be on high doses to get the best results. Also read the directions and tips for use below.
